SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News)—For its 46th year, The Town of Manlius Recreation Department will put on its summer production. This year’s musical: “Catch Me if You Can”, originally a movie directed by Steven Spielberg, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. The movie is based on the true story of Frank Abagnale Jr.
Abagnale claims he successfully conned millions of dollars by posing as a pilot, doctor, and parish prosecutor.
“The music is really great, and the storyline is pretty classic,” said Kristine Zingaro, a co-producer of the show, when expressing why the town chose this specific production.
Abagnale is played by Matt Tenorio, a physics teacher originally from Middletown, New York. This will be Tenorio’s first summer with the Manlius Production.
The Town of Manlius Recreation Department has performed musical productions every summer since 1976. The production is a staple of the community that people expect every year.
Although the performance is at a middle school, this year’s production is more of an adult-led show. The cast ranges in age from 17 to 70, and kids are more than welcome to view, but there will be no child actors.
The production will run at Eagle Hill Middle School Auditorium in Manlius from Thursday, July 18, through Saturday, July 20, at 7 p.m.
