SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News)— When summer comes to mind, it’s all about beaches. And there’s no shortage of amazing places to travel, with or without a passport. NCC News reporter Krystin Lilly tells us about her top three recommendations for the season.
Lisbon, Portugal
For an affordable yet enriching destination, add Lisbon, Portugal to your list. This city is known for its unique architecture and rich history. From the stunning monuments to incredible hotels like Casa Do Príncipe, nestled in the heart of the city.
Don’t miss out on exploring the scenery. Book a boat tour and enjoy the experience of driving the boat yourself. If that’s not your thing, swimming in the crystal-clear waters is a great alternative. I came across photos of Praia de Cascais on Pinterest and had to see it for myself. For those who love to explore, the majestic Pena Palace is a must-visit.
San Juan, Puerto Rico
No passport? No problem. Playa Colora in Puerto Rico offers a stunning combination of clear water and red sand. Just make sure not to dunk your drone in the ocean like I did!
Old San Juan is brimming with vibrant, colorful buildings and mouth-watering food. For thrill-seekers, El Yunque offers adrenaline-pumping adventures with its ziplining tours throughout the National Forest.
Local Sights
If heights and flying aren’t your thing, the Syracuse Airpower Tour lets you explore aircraft without taking to the skies. The tour includes several ride options daily, and you can even sit in the cockpit to learn about flight instruments.
Central New York, known for its Finger Lakes, offers a variety of sights to see. Carpenter’s Falls in Skaneateles is awesome to see. For food enthusiasts, Salt City Market in Syracuse provides a plethora of dining options to satisfy your cravings.
Summer has just begun, so it’s not too late to plan an exciting trip. Whether you seek the historical charm of Lisbon, the tropical Puerto Rico, or local adventures in Central New York, these destinations promise unforgettable experiences.
