SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — The Listeria outbreak in Central New York has local grocery taking certain precautions.
Tops Friendly Markets is taking some safety measures after Boar’s Head recalled over 70 of their deli meat products.
A deli worker at Tops discusses some different things the company has been doing since the recall.
The worker says that Tops has employees deep cleaning, throwing open meats away, and sanitizing everything.
Since the beginning of the outbreak, workers have been coming in as early as 5:30a.m. to start the cleaning process.
The disinfecting happens at least twice a day including wiping the whole deli.
The process can be time-consuming and frustrating, but the company understands the importance.
One deli worker says “Safety is what matters. We don’t want any of our customers sick.”
Tops cares about making sure their customers are safe over anything else.
As the Listeria outbreak continues, Tops are doing their due diligence to protect their customers.
