BALLSTON LAKE, N.Y. (NCC News) — Brittaney Deitz has been a spin instructor for years now, teaching about six classes a week. That changed very quickly when gyms shut down due to COVID-19.
During quarantine, Deitz started to spin on her own and post videos on her social media channels, and she couldn’t believe the response she got.
“People said you should teach virtual classes, I would get a bike I would buy a bike, and I was really shocked at a the fact that so many people already had bikes or were willing to buy them,” said Deitz.
She told her husband that everyone loved her workout videos online, so one day he surprised her by making a small in house spin studio.
Deitz made a Facebook group and in just three months already has over 1,000 members.
“This is the biggest spin class I have ever taught in my life, ” said Deitz.
She plans on moving forward with this business even after quarantine is over. She is still working on figuring out that perfect name for her business, and figuring out logistics.
In addition to teaching spin, Deitz is a middle school teacher and thinks that working remotely may become a part of everyone’s new normal.
“I think they’re realizing all this work we’re doing can be handled from home and a lot of these meetings can be done virtually. I definitely think this COVID situation is going to change the world moving forward in how we work and how we look at things,” said Deitz.
