Weather to be Difficult to Predict with no El Nino or La Nina Weather to be Difficult to Predict with no El Nino or La Nina

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — Neither El Nino or La Nina is expected to form in the Pacific this year. El Nino, typically causes a warmer Late Fall and Winter in the Northeast, and La Nina, the opposite.

Without either forecasters will have a more difficult time predicting the weather.

The Georgia native Julian Slaughter says when the weather is wrong he becomes frustrated.

If I look at my phone, on the weather app and it says one thing and it’s something else, I hate that,” he said.

Last time El Nino formed in the Pacific in 2015-2016 Syracuse had its fourth warmest Winter ever.

In a Syracuse.com article Mark Wysocki said one thing they will be watching closely is the position of the jet stream. Through that information, they can better predict whether Central New York’s winter will be wet or dry, warm or cold.

Maryland native Ethan Lake will wear the same clothes and expect a typical Central New York Winter no matter what forecasters say.

“Well i’m not gonna lie, weathers suck here regardless, I feel like I’m still gonna be wearing the same clothes even though its unpredictable. It might be a little non convenient because not being able to see what you have to wear, but I think it’s gonna be the same regardless,” he said.
