Its called zoom bombing, when unwelcome hacker’s join a virtual meeting. Emma Peca, President of Syracuse University’s College Democrats, says it happened to the College Democrats of New York.
“On Friday night, we all got an email that someone had zoom bombed the opening night remarks and that they contacted the authorities”
Starting this week, College Democrats of New York will now tighten security so this does not happen again.
Zoom is not all bad, as it connects one special member of the Syracuse Women’s lacrosse team with her teammates after the season was abruptly ended.
“I think the biggest word would I would use would just be disappointed”
Erin Hertweck’s daughter Maddy is 6 years old battling cerebral palsy and epilepsy. As an honorary teammate of the Syracuse Women’s Lacrosse team, this spring was her last season, which ended abruptly.
“As time went on and we realized that coronavirus was getting serious and then the ACC decided to canceled the spring season, we were so, so disappointed ”
Even though Maddy’s program through IMPACT ended, Maddy and her family will continue to support the orange from the bleachers.
The Downtown Committee of Syracuse is working to move shopping online.
“Like law firms and some marketing companies and now hosting webinars to get information out”
For the weather expect some showers today. Temperatures continue to fall through the 40’s ushering in a mix of rain and snow tonight with with a low of 29 degrees.
