I’m Ethan Mitchell reporting for N-C-C News. Here are the stories making news today, April 26th.
The city of Syrause has named Joseph Cecile the new chief of police, and he plans to change the relationship between S-P-D and Syracuse University’s Department of Public Safety, also known as D-P-S. Cecile says he believes D-P-S responding to situations in S-U’s off-campus neighborhood, which they were previously NOT able to do, will allow S-P-D to focus on other issues.
Off-campus neighborhood resident Matt Fairfax says this will help the perception of D-P-S among students.
Syracuse University has seen several students take their lives in the past couple years. Most recently, S-U junior David Odusanya passed away on April 21st. The University has counseling services to help students with their mental health, but questions arise if this is making a difference on campus.
If you have been out and about lately, you may have noticed yourself needing a jacket one day and a tee-shirt the next. Syracuse has seen what feels to be two unseasonably warm days this week. While residents of Syracuse both enjoyed and took advantage of the warm weather, a change in temperature this quickly may seem out of the norm. But is that the case? Meteorologist Peter Hall of C-N-Y Central and N-B-C-three, doesn’t think so.
As for the weather in Syracuse today, there will be a chance of showers, with temperatures sticking around 50 degrees during the day and dropping to 36 overnight.
