ANCHOR: I’m Adam Pankowski reporting for N-C-C News. Here are the stories making headlines today, August 11. Central New York is preparing for one of their own to be in the governor’s office. National Organization for Women C-N-Y chapter president Mickey Belosi says Kathy Hochul has deep ties to the area.

MICKEY BELOSI: “I live in Auburn, she’s been here numerous times. She was just here a few weeks ago. She’s been to the women’s march in Seneca Falls, and Central New York NOW is a partner, we’re part of the group that puts on that women march.”

ANCHOR: Hochul will become the first female governor for New York State. The New York State Fair has implemented an indoor mask mandate. Public Relations Manager Dave Bullard (Bull-erd) says this rule should not have an impact on the joy the fair brings to everyone.

DAVE BULLARD: “The most important part of the fair is not that the fair exists… It’s that it’s a place where people can come and be together. Those things can go on again and that’s obviously important. People need to feel that.”

ANCHOR: The fair begins Friday, August 20. The Syracuse City Ballet is ready to perform in front of a live audience for the first time in over 18-months. Creative Director Aldo (AL-doe) Kattón (ca-TONE) says the passion of the audience is what the group missed the most.

ALDOE KATTÓN : “Exchange this energy with the audience and make this connection. That’s what…dance is…for us. This connection to the audience, to be able to tell these stories.”

ANCHOR: Their performance is Saturday, August 14. A high of 93 today with a possibility of thunderstorms as we head into the night. For N-C-C News, I’m Adam Pankowski reporting. You can find full stories on our website, NC-C-News-dot-online.
