This morning another building collpased in the North Side of Syracuse putting surrounding homes in danger of being torn down.

Rittler and Paratore Contracting’s superintendent Steve Brooks says the damage could’ve been much worse.

Steve Brooks: Well the whole building could have collapsed! Fortunately, the rest of the building is in reasonable condition and we should be able to get it down without any problems.”>

Saral Khare: Brooks doesn’t expect any additional displacements.

This afternoon, there was another fire.

Six apartment units are torched in Clariton Heights apartments.

Clariton Heights Resident Piper cooper says six units are destroyed.

Piper Cooper: About half of the apartments are actually scorched. But what I heard is there is a lot of smoke damage

In Onondaga County there were 14 overdoses over 24 hours this week.

Saral Khare: Program Coordinator of the Substance Use Initiatives at the County Health Department, Mariah Senecal-Reilly says people should have Naloxone with them

Mariah Reilly: You’d rather have it and not need it than be in a situation where you wished that you had it.

Free fentanyl test strips and Narcan training are available through the health department.

Saral Khare: Saint George Macedonian Orthodox Church is having it’s annual festival this weekend.

The festival will have traditional dancing and music.

Festival co-chairperson Diana ( Ya-Ki-Mou-Ski) believes it’s important to showcase Macedonian culture

Diana Jakimoski: So it’s more bringing our culture and our food to the community, because you know, most people wouldn’t know where Macedonia is, because it’s such a smaller country on the map.
