I’M CHIANN NOBREGA, REPORTING FOR N-C-C NEWS. HERE ARE THE STORIES MAKING NEWS TODAY, MONDAY, JUNE 1 .
SYRACUSE IS UNDER A STATE OF EMERGENCY… WITH AN IMMEDIATE CURFEW IN EFFECT FROM EIGHT P-M TO SEVEN A-M.
THIS IS IN RESPONSE TO WHAT MAYOR BEN WALSH CALLED AGGRESSIVE AND DANGEROUS ACTIONS DURING LOCAL PROTESTS OVER THE DEATH OF GEORGE FLOYD.
THE CUREFW WILL REMAIN IN PLACE UNTIL MAYOR WALSH LIFTS THE STATE OF EMERGENCY FOR THE CITY.
WE WILL HAVE NATIONWIDE COVERAGE OF THE PROTESTS AND RIOTS THAT CONTINUE AROUND THE COUNTRY.
BONDI PRODUCE IN TORONTO, CANADA IS CHANGING THE WAY THEY DO BUSINESS DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.
THE PRODUCE COMPANY SUPPLIES TOP RESTAURANTS IN TORONTO WITH THEIR PRODUCTS.
BUT WITH RESTAURANTS CLOSED BECAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC THEY ARE NOW OFFERING AT HOME GROCERY DELIVERY SERVICES.
BONDI PRODUCE VICE PRESIDENT EZIO BONDI SAYS THEY DELIVER SEVERAL DIFFERENT TYPES OF FOOD INCLUDING FRUITS, VEGETABLES AND DAIRY PRODUCTS.
EZIO BONDI: “COVID happens… we have all this produce in our warehouse that is basically dying. We have a bunch of trucks that are parked and I think that during times like these as a business owner we’re forced to innovate.”
AN ANIMAL RESCUE CENTER IN BUFFALO, NEW YORK IS GETTING CREATIVE WITH HOW THEY DO BUSINESS.
DIAMONDS IN THE RUFF, A FOSTER BASED ORGANIZATION, IS TEAMING UP WITH PAULA’S DONUTS TO ENSURE THAT THEIR ANIMALS CAN FIND A HOME EVEN DURING THE PANDEMIC.
EVERY DONUT BOX HAS A PHOTO AND DESCRIPTION OF A DOG THAT IS UP FOR ADOPTION.
DIAMONDS IN THE RUFF VOLUNTEER LEANDRA BRAHAM SAYS THEY HAD TO FIND NEW WAYS TO INCREASE ADOPTIONS SINCE WORKERS CAN NOT GO INTO THE PUBLIC AS OFTEN AS NORMAL.
LEANDRA BRAHAM: “We’ve seen more adoptions and fosters come in which is super exciting for us. More people are home right now so that give them the time to be able to take in an animal.”
AND SHARIF KING TELLS US WHAT WEATHER WE CAN EXPECT FOR TODAY.
SHARIF KING: “Hey it’s Sharif D. King in Central New York… I’ve already opened up my windows. I want to encourage you to let the sunshine through as well. As the day grows it is set to be 60 degrees to start with and will rise to a high 66 degrees Fahrenheit this afternoon. Later in the temperature will drop to a mid too low 60’s so beware of that and there is a chance of rain but we’re going to enjoy the sun.”
