Good afternoon. I’m Scarlett Lisjak. This is the NCC News Podcast. It’s Tuesday, June twenty-third and here’s what NCC News is reporting on today.
Today is Voting Day and the last day you can send out your absentee ballot in New York State’s primary election. This-is-the first year that all New York State voters are eligible to vote by mail, due to an executive order signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo back in April.
NCC’s Marsha Augustine spoke with CNY Democratic Congressional Candidate Dana Balter who says the pandemic didn’t just change the way people are voting but also the focus of her campaign:
“Pandemic has been less about sort of inconvenience in campaigning, and more about community and national crisis that highlights the need for really good government.”
Onondaga County officials say it could take weeks for the winner of this year’s primary election to be announced.
And N-C-C’s continued coverage of COVID-19 around the nation, takes us to Drum Pennsylvania, where Maria Trivelpiece spoke with the owner of a mediation center Lisa Wolk, who plans to take her business outside when she’s allowed to re-open next week.
“…So, I thought I would utilize the outdoor, it’s a beautiful time of year here in the north east, you could put the mats at a difference from one another, a circumference of greater than six feet really…”
Yoga and meditation centers are currently open in Central New York
And now for your weather update, here’s N-C-C’s Nick Ursini.
“It’s the fourth day in a row in the 90’s, plus a chance to beat a record set back in 1975, that record was 92, today we may just break that record, bit cool temperatures are on the way for the later part of this week.”
Thanks, Nick. For full stories, check out the NCC News website later today at NCC News online. I’m Scarlett Lisjak and this has been your N-C News podcast for Tuesday, June 23, 2020.
