This is your NCCNews rundown. I’m John Finnerty and here’s today’s news.

The New York State health department is keeping a close eye on Central New York after the recent COVID surge in the area. This past week – daily cases in Onondaga County were almost triple the rate of state cases. Hospitalizations remain low – but state health officials continue to monitor the situation.

Syracuse Women’s Basketball welcomed back a familiar face in Felisha Legette-Jack as she was introduced as the new women’s hoops coach. Legette-Jack was the first woman to have her number retired from the Orange and looks to make yet another mark on the hill as the Head Coach.

“What we’re gonna ask our young people is if you want to stay, you should because we have the best alumni in the world. We don’t fight to keep the doors closed here”

A new stadium is planned for Buffalo as the Bills reached a deal with New York State yesterday. The stadium will receive 830 million dollars in taxpayer dollars – the most public funding ever for an NFL stadium. Some locals are upset that their money is being used for the stadium.

” A team that is worth multi millions and billions of dollars and makes revenue in the millions and billions should not be able to get as much money as it does”

The Spring weather has yet to stick in Central New York. Temperatures in the twenties have been the normal in Syracuse after students returned from Spring Break, even getting snowfall over the weekend. SU students like Trey Refield cannot wait for this Winter weather to finally pass.

“It sucks. It’s so bad, it was like heaven a week ago and now it’s horrible. It’s cold, it’s windy and there’s a lot of snow. My car is struggling to drive in the snow again.”

Tonight’s weather will remain mostly clear with a high of 29 degrees and a low of 16. Tomorrow the temperature will rise to a high of 40 degrees and low of 39 – with a 40 percent chance of precipitation.
