Micron’s investment in Central New York is planning to hire 1500 veterans over the next two decades. Micron’s first intern and Veteran Savion Pollard says that Syracuse is the best place for veterans who want to work at Micron.
Savion Pollard: Since being here I’ve realized it really is the best place for vets. My relationship with Doctor Haynie was really formed just from our interactions inside the NVRC. That connection has been really important. He’s been like a mentor to me.
Achkar: The Drakos Clinical Laboratories are providing free COVID and flu vaccines in East Syracuse right now. Drakos company founder Heather Drake Bianchi plans on serving over 100 patients coming to get shots.
Heather Drake Bianchi: We thought that it might be easy for people to come get their vaccines now before any of these respiratory illnesses hit their peak.
Achkar: Absentee ballots in the state of New York are being counted early in a general election for the first time. But because of recent objections, a court meeting will be held in Albany today. The decision will determine whether the state can continue this new practice. But Onondaga County Board of Elections Commissioner Dustin Czerny says many ballots have already been counted.
Dustin Czerny: It’s really late to change this, and we already have half of our ballots or so are opened and scanned.
Achkar: A warmer November day in Syracuse with a high of 64 degrees and mostly cloudy skies.
