MATT FAIRFAX: I’m Matt Fairfax reporting for N-C-C News. Here are the stories making news today, November tenth. Humane C-N-Y Director Maureen Davison says the pandemic has provided unique challenges for the animal shelter.
MAUREEN DAVISON: “What we have seen is a decrease in owner surrenders. So through the pandemic we were hardly getting any owner surrenders so there were a lot of times when there might have been 1 or 2 dogs here.”
FAIRFAX: Davison says she does not expect an influx of pet owners to give up their pets for adoption during the holiday season, especially with COVID-19 cases keeping people at home.
FAIRFAX: Syracuse University senior Chris Sacchi says the university’s decision to move classes online earlier than scheduled is making it difficult for students taking classes dedicated to producing T-V newscasts inside a T-V studio.
CHRIS SACCHI: “When you are in the studio you have the cameras on you, it feels much more real than on Zoom. I mean if it is Zoom it is really to me not as much as the effect and it will make it more difficult.”
FAIRFAX: Another group of S-U students impacted by the university’s decision to move online is the first-year students. Freshman J-J Demarco says the decision is bittersweet.
J.J. DEMARCO: “I’m definitely going to miss you know eating in the dining hall with all of the amazing friends I’ve made here, but at the same time, I completely understand the University’s position.”
FAIRFAX: Another day of warm weather is expected today in Syracuse. Sunny skies will be present all day with a few clouds in the afternoon. Be sure to enjoy the sun today since rain is expected tomorrow.
