Who Let The Dogs Out Who Let The Dogs Out

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — Central New York starts to resume normalcy as veterinarian hospitals and doggy daycares are open for non-essential visits since being closed down on March 20,  2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

For co-owner Cheryl Calarese of Romp and Play Doggy Daycare it wasn’t just being affected by the coronavirus, which caused a coast to coast lockdown; it was extremely challenging for the business.

“The two months were challenging; it really was challenging all the way around. We work with dogs, so we didn’t know why we weren’t quite not essential, but we did exactly what we were supposed to, and my goal right now is to make sure we don’t get shut don’t again,” said Calarese.

Many dogs will be making their way back into their regular daycare drop off routines, but rules for the parents have slightly changed.

“Right now, we are not allowing any customers only staff, just my daughter in the building and me. The customers stay outside, were glad that it nice weather right now. They are taking their leashes and collars off and taking them with them. We then provide them with another collar so that they have a collar on during the day so that we don’t transfer any germs. We’ve checked with our vet, and we’ve checked with our sources to make sure we are doing the right thing,” said Calarese.

Throughout these challenging last two months and an uncertainty of what COVID-19 will present in the future. R&P will remain optimistic and dedicated to their community and clients. “We are very grateful for our clients who have supported us through this whole entire time,” said Calarese
