SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) – A locally headquartered wireless company is set to bring hundreds of jobs to the Southside neighborhood in Syracuse while also transforming a historic building in the area.
JMA Wireless is a global communications company specializing in 4G and 5G software-based technology whose international headquarters are located in nearby Clay. The company says it will move its manufacturing of 5G equipment to a high tech facility in the space previously occupied by the Coyne Textile Services building on Cortland Avenue after previously doing that manufacturing in Texas.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the wireless company will invest $25 million into the brand new 120,000-square-foot facility on the city’s south side as his administration continues to focus on the area’s development.
“We’re laser-focused on bringing major companies into Central New York and this announcement demonstrates [that] our strategic, regionally based approach to economic development is bringing tangible results,” Cuomo said.
JMA will seek to continue bringing even more business to the Central New York area by hiring local organizations to assist in training new employees for the facility.
