Syracuse, N.Y. (NCC News) — Brady Farm’s is a locally owned farm on the South Side of Syracuse, and uses community supported agriculture, or CSA, to not only help the community, but also help themselves.
community supported agriculture is an agriculture model where customers pay upfront before the season starts, and then receive weekly or bi-weekly boxes of food as the season goes on. Brady Farms has over 100 customers using this program. Liv Gostev, a crew leader at the farm, spoke about how this program helps the consumer.
“The reason this is good for the costumer is that it encourages diversity of different products that we have and encourages them to eat in season,” said Gostev.
Brady Farm delivers these boxes to customers in the area, and the contents are always a surprise. Gostev said how this keeps the farm varied with their crops.
“I think it helps us be able to really introduce foods to people that they might not otherwise eat and just be able to have a really balanced farm diversity wise,” said Gostev.
