Eliminating the term Transgender Has People Outraged Eliminating the term Transgender Has People Outraged

LAST NIGHT A NEW YORK TIMES ARTICLE WAS PUBLISHED DETAILING TRUMP’S NEW PLANS REGARDING THE TRANSGENDER COMMUNITY. TRUMP’S NEW PLAN WOULD ROLL BACK THE CHANGES THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION MADE FOR THIS GROUP. OUR ZACH ALLEN IS IN STUDIO TO BREAK THIS DOWN.

IN LAST NIGHT’S ARTICLE.. TRUMP AND HIS ADMINISTRATION SAID THEY ARE CONSIDERING CHANGING GENDER TO STRICTLY BE DEFINED BY THE SEX ONE IS BORN WITH. 1 POINT 4 MILLION AMERICANS RECOGNIZE THEMSELVES AS A GENDER DIFFERENT THAN THE ONE THEY ARE BORN WITH. THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES SAYS THIS IS NECESSARY SO THEY CAN HAVE A DEFINITION OF GENDER THAT IS QUOTE “CLEAR.. OBJECTIVE.. AND ADMINISTRABLE.” THIS CHANGE THOUGH WOULD TAKE AWAY A PLETHORA OF RIGHTS FOR THE TRANSGENDER COMMUNITY… MOST NOTABLY THEIR RIGHT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT BEING TREATED DIFFERENTLY BASED ON THEIR GENDER IDENTITY. THIS NEWS HAD SOCIAL MEDIA BLOWING UP LAST NIGHT WITH SOME VERY NOTABLE PEOPLE SPEAKING OUT.

PEOPLE NOT ONLY RALLIED TOGETHER ON SOCIAL MEDIA THOUGH… LAST NIGHT PEOPLE PROTESTED IN NEW YORK CITY AND THEN AGAIN TODAY IN WASHINGTON D-C. JACKSON AND JAMES… BACK TO YOU

By Zach Allen SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) – Over the weekend, a seemingly small change in wording from the government could make a massive impact.

A New York Times article was published Sunday detailing a plan from the government to possibly eliminate the term transgender. This would mean that people would be gendered based off their sex they are given at birth from their genitalia.

But that still leaves 1.4 million Americans who identify as transgender to be left out in the dark. This change would strip them of simple rights that the Obama administration fought to give this group.

Most notably, this elimination of the term transgender would strip these people of their right to complain about being treated differently based off their gender identity.  A transgender woman would lose the ability to share that they are being treated differently for either being a woman or being transgender.

This potential change had people reeling and rallying on social media. Not only were transgender groups and people speaking out, but the likes of Bernie Sanders and many other famous cisgender were speaking out against this idea.

Social media wasn’t the only place that people rallied together though. The same night the article was published, a rally began in New York City. The very next day, people got together to share their anger in Washington, D.C.
