Businesses Prepare For Normal Halloween BUSINESSES PREPARE FOR NORMAL HALLOWEEN

Candy and chocolate sales soaring past Halloween 2021 and 2022

Syracuse, N.Y. (NCC News)— After two very long years, businesses are finally preparing for a full-forced return of Halloween this year. However, the explosion of customers has left some businesses unprepared.

Three months ago, Hershey announced early on that they would not be able to meet the increased demand for Halloween candy this year. Other businesses, still cautious from the pandemic, began preparing for adversity months ago.

Although the last two years were anything but easy for business, many businesses have managed to come out stronger on the other side.

“Now when I have 600 boxes left, I’m ordering another 1,000 boxes instead of waiting until I get down to like 200 boxes,” said Adam Mazzoni, owner of Sweet On Chocolate in downtown Syracuse.

With candy and chocolate sales already soaring above 2020 levels, any candy or chocolate business left unprepared is susceptible to running out of inventory in a hurry. As a result, some businesses are making it a point to overprepare.

“Moving into this season, we are better prepared, we have more inventory on things that we can of course stock up and hold onto, to just ensure that we have the items in case that there’s problems down the road,” said Mazzoni.

In other words, businesses are learning that it’s better to be safe than sorry.
