SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News)–The North Syracuse Central School District is joining other Central New York schools in the nationwide lawsuit against social media companies. The lawsuit alleges that these companies have played a significant role in causing mental health problems among teenagers, making it challenging for them to succeed in school. Superintendent David Bowles said the NSCSD has added resources over the past five years to help the social media crisis including working with the county for programs within schools and adding more counselors.
“There could be some funds that come back to districts that will help pay for some of the services that we provided for students,” said Superintendent Bowles.
We reached out to Meta for a statement and received no response, but in a public statement they said that they want to help teens have safe and positive online experience and are disappointed in the start of a lawsuit.
