SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News)-Three men were arrested on Sunday Night after a kidnapping along with an attempted robbery. The three men, who were arrested on Syracuse’s north side, are currently being held in Onondaga County Justice Center Jail.
Police were on the north side just past 8:30 P.M. on Sunday Evening looking into an unrelated call. It was at this time when a 28-year-old male approached the officers and reported that he had been robbed by Aweis Maalo at knife point, the suspect was still close by, and the victim identified him to police, according to Syracuse Police Department’s Public Information Officer Matthew Malinowski in a news release.
Officers investigated the matter and found that the 32-year-old Maalo did have a knife on him, and were able to figure out that two other men had Maalo’s brother held against his will on the 700 block of East Laurel Street. The other two suspects, Laxman and Ram Khatiwada, had been threatening the kidnapping victim with weapons in order to get money from him.
Police charged Laxman Khatiwada, Ram Khatiwada and Aweis Maalo with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
