REPORTER: THE DEATH TOLL FROM THE CORONAVIRUS CONTINUES TO CLIMB. ONONDAGA COUNTY EXECUTIVE RYAN MCMAHON ANNOUNCED TODAY THE SECOND DEATH IN THE COUNTY. IN NEW YORK STATE THE NUMBER ECLIPSES 2,400. THIS MEANS THE TOTAL NUMBER OF DEATHS HAVE TRIPLED IN LESS THAN A WEEK.

REPORTER: SYRACUSE SCHOOLS ARE SHIFTING TO ONLINE TEACHING. WITH IN-PERSON SESSIONS BEING SUSPENDED UNTIL AT LEAST MAY 1, EDUCATORS, INCLUDING FIRST GRADE TEACHER JOSH SWANSON, ARE REACHING THEIR STUDENTS THROUGH THE INTERNET.

JOSH SWANSON: “I KNOW JUST HAVING THE ZOOM MEETING YOU CAN SEE THE KIDS FACES JUST BEING ABLE TO SEE THEIR FRIENDS THAT THEY HAVEN’T SEEN IN OVER TWO WEEKS HAS REALLY BRIGHTENED UP SOME KIDS DAYS.”

REPORTER: NEW YORK SCHOOLS HAVE BEEN ORDERED TO CONTINUE REMOTE LEARNING DURING SPRING BREAK.
