ALLISON WEISS: THIS IS YOUR NCC NEWSBRIEF, ITS MARCH 26. I’M ALLISON WEISS. NEW YORK HAS SEEN AN SHARP INCREASE IN PEOPLE HOSPITALIZED DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS. AS OF TODAY, 385 PEOPLE HAVE DIED FROM COVID-19. 100 OF THOSE DEATHS OCCURED IN ONE DAY. IN A BRIEFING TODAY, GOVERNOR OF NEW YORK ANDREW CUOMO SAID THE INCREASING DEATH RATE IS PARTLY A RESULT OF OLDER AND WEAKER PEOPLE STAYING ON VENTILATORS FOR 20 DAYS OR LONGER.

Allison Weiss: DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC, RELIGIOUS SERVICES HAVE MOVED TO ONLINE PLATFORMS. THE CHANGE IS ALSO IMPACTING HOW MINISTERS, INCLUDING LEAD PASTOR JOHN ELMER OF THE VINEYARD CHURCH, ARE PREACHING.

John Elmer: “We’re going with a shorter message. For people online, attention spans are a little bit less. Topics— dealing with anxiety, handling fear, those kinds of topics.”

Allison Weiss: TOMORROW’S TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE MID 40S AND THE SUN WILL PEAK THROUGH CLOUDY SKIES. THE WEEKEND WILL BRING SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTOMS WITH HIGHS IN THE MID 50S-60S.
