Now you might be looking at this buff guy throwing the axe and thinking, okay the only reason he’s hitting it time after time is because he’s basically a lumberjack.
But Axe Master Brandon Sobles says, that’s just not the case.

“I’m so sorry”
I finally got it. And just like their namesake, I felt kind of like a “bad axe”…But only once.
By Abigail Fridmann Camillus, N.Y. (NCC News) — It might seem a little unusual, but this sport is hitting the bull’s-eye for Central New Yorkers.
Bad Axe Throwing, located in Camillus, has only been open for three months, but so far their targets have taken quite a beating.
“It takes skill, there’s a national competition, and it’s fun. It’s really fun,” says Axe Master Brandon Sobels.
Bad Axe is one of two throwing facilities in the Central New York area. Sobels says even though they’re new to the area, business has been booming.
“Things have been really steady, and every night we’re basically filled up.”
So what’s the attraction? According to Sobels, it’s a great way to ease tension in your daily life.
“When people hit the target it’s quite joyous. It relieves a lot of stress, it’s like ‘I just did that.'”
While Sobels may appear to be a modern day lumberjack, he says this is a sport pretty much anyone can do. All you have to do is point, reach, and throw.
“It’s pretty much just muscle memory,” says Sobels. “Once you get used to it, it just gets easier and easier.”
