As of Oct 1, the CDC has confirmed 18 vaping related deaths.
Numerous other have been reported in the days since.
Gov. Cuomo says the first vaping related death involved a teenage boy from the Bronx.
Cuomo tried to implement a ban on flavored e-cigarettes.
Cuomo: “This vaping is a public health crisis. It is affecting our young people. It has been marketed to young people. The federal government should act.”
The Vapor Technology Association sued the state in response.
A day before it was set to be enforced a court placed a temporary restraining order on the ban.
Both sides will have their arguments heard before a judge on Friday, October 18.
