Help Is On The Way For New York City During Coronavirus Pandemic Help Is On The Way For New York City During Coronavirus Pandemic

NEW YORK, N.Y. (NCC News) – New York State has seen the most cases of the Coronavirus with over 59,000 confirmed cases. The most populous city in the US, New York City, has seen the majority of the cases in the state with over 36,000 confirmed cases as of Monday morning. New York City’s hospitals have been overrun with people during this pandemic, but help is on the way.

On Monday, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio welcomed the USNS Comfort to the city’s harbor. The hospital ship has over 1,000 beds which will be able to receive patients who do not have the Coronavirus as early as Tuesday March, 31. The ship is being brought in to ease the pressure on hospitals in New York City so doctors can focus on those with the virus.

In a press conference earlier Monday, de Blasio said that the arrival of the USNS Comfort brings more than hospital beds and equipment;

“It is not just about the beds, and the doctors and the equipment. It’s also about hope. It’s also about boosting the morale of New Yorkers, who are going through so much. It is about saying to our heroes in those hospitals that help has come,” said de Blasio.
