High Gas Price Affect Syracuse People a Lot High Gas Price Affect Syracuse People a Lot

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) – Although the current average gas prices in Syracuse decreased slightly, high costs still raise FedEx’s fuel surcharge for its three shipping services including ground, express and freight.

Nichcole Rucker, a Syracuse resident who refueled her car at Valero gas station, said the high price of gasoline made her feel pressured.

Oh they are super high, they are super high. I’ve even got to the point where I’ve had to trade out my vehicle to get a smaller one,” Rucker said. “…high like that, that’s ridiculous.

She said she also felt how the rise in fuel prices affected other aspects of her life.

Shipping in mail, things like that, stamps, all of it, a lot of that is going up, that really affect a lot, everything we’re dealing with,” Rucker said.

Ian Saunders, a Syracuse resident, said Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is one of the reasons he doesn’t feel stressed about the high price.

I think that inflation right now is necessary. There is a war going on, and I think that the resources used to help those people that are getting shot at, I’m willing to pay $0.5 more,” Saunders said.

The national average price of regular gasoline has decreased two cents from this Monday. According to the Energy Information Administration, a continually decreasing demand will make the national average move lower.
