SYRACUSE, NY (NCC News) – Central New York is finishing out the last days of a four-day heatwave.
The sweltering temperatures may push residents to enjoy more summer activities, even as the surging Delta variant continues to create more coronavirus cases.
Syracuse resident Sam Rosokoff isn’t too keen on enjoying this heat outdoors.
“Yeah I’m definitely more cautious right now,” Rosokoff says. “I’d probably push towards staying home since the infection rate is going back up because of the delta variant.”
Some Syracuse residents like Adam Smith, say there are much safer options to enjoy the summer at home.
“To be honest, enjoying the summer isn’t really the problem. I think that it’s mainly due to being that more people are just like we don’t really want to wear masks in the pool.”
Smith says that “it would be easier and cheaper” to just have your own pool.
This is the third heatwave to hit the Central New York region this summer. The C-D-C has said that Onondaga County has high levels of transmission due to the Delta variant.
