JAMESVILLE, N.Y. (NCC NEWS) – OnondagaMan takes over Jamesville Beach Park on June 1 for the inaugural triathlon that puts all athletes’ skills to the test.
Athletes will compete in three events as they fight for the title of OnondagaMan. The competition begins with a 1.2-mile swim before moving into a 56-mile bike and finishing with a 13.1-mile run. Participants can also complete an AquaBike competition.
OnondagaMan has a registration fee and a portion of that helps those in need in the local community.
“We give to a local charity, the Jamesville Food Pantry, and they’re very thrilled to receive money,” said race director Mark Wilson. “The athletes have the ability to actually give money when they register and we then give money on top of that, so we’re gonna give at least I think $600-700 to the local pantry.”
The biking course will have two aid stations while the running trail will have one to ensure the athletes can take care of themselves. Aid stations will be stocked with water and nutrition products.
Spectators will be able to enjoy coffee, snacks and fruit for a small donation as they cheer on their favorite athletes. The race begins at 8 a.m.
