SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) – The Lakeshore Village project has been in the works since 2019. Guy Hart Jr. of Hart-Lyman Companies, LLC originally envisioned to create a village and resort community in Cicero along the Oneida Lake Shoreline. Since then, these plans have changed.
Guy Hart Jr. took ownership of Lakeshore Yacht and Country Club back in 2017. He then proposed a $250 million plan to turn the club into a mix of luxury hotels, stores, restaurants, and homes along the lake. This village would include over 500 luxury condos, apartments, townhomes, and single-family homes as well as doubling the size of the marina. Hart said he wanted to excavate canals and waterways into those new neighborhoods.
Micron Technology bought two properties in Clay, New York for almost $6.5 million. They are also investing $100 billion in Central New York to build a monumental microchip plant. With micron coming into town, Hart Jr. had to rethink his plans to make room for them diverting from his original proposal. “We sort of relooked at our plan and we had to kind of make a bet,” said Hart Jr.
Residents of Cicero were in opposition against the excavation of waterways expressing concern about the congested traffic system thinking it would be catastrophic without a traffic system upgrade in the area. The focus was turned on the lakefront with hopes to build a new public pier with a harbor on the lake that will be able to track boats that pass through every year. “I’m certain it’s going to enhance property values and the quality of life for everybody in the region,” said Hart Jr. The Lakeshore Village Project plans to break ground in 2024.
