AS THE COUNTRY GRAPPLES WITH MORE MASS SHOOTINGS, GOV. KATHY HOCHUL IS IN NEW YORK CITY TODAY TO SIGN LEGISLATION TO STRENGTHEN THE STATE’S GUN LAWS.

PEOPLE UNDER 21 YEARS OLD WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO BUY SEMI-AUTOMATIC RIFLES LIKE THE AR-15 USED IN THE BUFFALO SUPERMARKET SHOOTING.

HOCHUL SAYS THE CHANGES ARE NEEDED.

GOVERNOR KATHY HOCHUL: “Number one, I no longer want an 18-year-old to purchase a semi-automatic weapon. We are requiring a permit to purchase that and raising the age to 21. Thank you, Senator Kevin Thomas. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Number two, no longer will the threat of causing mass harm go unpunished.”

AROUND THE COUNTRY, LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTERS ARE SEEING AN INCREASE IN REQUESTS TO RETURN OR SURRENDER PETS.

THERE IS ONE LOCAL NON-FOR PROFIT THAT IS GIVING NEW HOMES TO PIT BULLS.

KRISTINA PETRELLA SAYS THERE’S AN ADVANTAGE TO ADOPTING FROM A FOSTER BASE RESCUE.

KRISTINA PETRELLA: “These guys are in homes so, adopters what they are like in a home setting. There is an advantage from adopting from a foster base rescue. I don’t want anybody to think we don’t have a facility, don’t adopt from them. We do have some perks and one of those is we really know our dogs that gives us an upper hand in replacing them in the right home.”

THE TEAM IS COMPRIZED OF ATHLETES FROM ALL NCAA DIVISION LEVELS, NIAA AND JUCO.

PAUL LUDDEN: “Super excited for the season. I think we have a good group of returners coming back. They can hopefully lead the way for us and some good young pieces that are going to be great for us. Excited for a new learning experience for myself, experience to work with some guys from some different levels.”
