SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC NEWS) – The Landmark Theater will host the eighth annual New York State craft brewers festival on Saturday. The event will host a bunch of different breweries where people will be able to taste their beers with three-ounce glasses.
The Executive Director of the New York State Brewers Association, Paul Leone, states how this beer festival will promote many different breweries from throughout the state.
“Ours is unique because it’s all New York State beer from breweries from every region in the state, 68 of them this year are going to be there,” he said.
The event is listed as an annual event though, which was not the case last year. The festival was canceled due to COVID-19 which is something that has affected many of the breweries in the state and in the nation.
“Technically yes we didn’t have it last year,” Leone said about last year’s event.
Many of the breweries in New York state have struggled financially due to the pandemic. Some of them had to make decisions in order to even stay afloat. Nationally, the picture is similar. There was roughly a three percent decrease in beer production in 2020 according to the National Brewers Association. That number equates to nearly 200,000,000 barrels of beer not being made.
The event on Saturday will look to promote the breweries in the region and help them gain the boost that was lost during the pandemic. You need to be 21 years or older to attend the event and you must have proof of vaccination. For more information about the beer festival, you can go to the association’s website.
