With Election Day approaching, Onondaga County officials are urging voters to plan how they will go to the polls.

The United States Postal Service has changed the deadline for when absentee ballots must be received. Now, absentee ballots must be received by Oct 18, 15 days before Election Day.

Absentee ballots are available only if you will not be in Onondaga County or if you are physically unable to go to the polls on election day. Voters can apply at onvote.net

Onondaga County Elections Commissioner Dustin Czarny said it’s not about the way you vote – it’s that you vote.

“Well local elections are what matters most. It affects your pocketbooks, your roads. Your day to day life is going to be affected by the people you elect this fall,” Czarny said.

The voter registration deadline was last Friday, Oct 8. Election Day is Nov 2.
