SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — In a press release Tuesday, the Syracuse Common Council announced plans to build a dog park in Ormand Spencer Park.

The announcement was made by Councilor Michael Greene in collaboration with the Syracuse Park Conservancy, a non-profit organization dedicated to Syracuse Parks. Greene and the organization announced plans to raise $27,000 for the construction of the park.

According to the press release, funds will be raised through the Syracuse Park Conservancy Go Fund Me account, all donations will be accepted, and those who donate over $100 will have their names on a plaque at the park.

On the need for the park, Greene said, “Dog parks not only help the health and well-being of our canine friends, but they can also serve as a social center to bring together neighbors with common interests.”

On Friday, September 25, Greene will host a press event at Ormand Spencer Park to begin fundraising.
