Syracuse Golf Shop Ready for Customers to Return Syracuse Golf Shop Ready for Customers to Return

Phase two reopening means a new wave of customers for Prestwick Golf Shop

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC  News) –  A lot of local businesses in Central New York have been impacted since the coronavirus pandemic hit the United States.

Prestwick Golf  Shop in Syracuse was just about to hit its peak time of the year.

Because of the mild winter in Syracuse, the summer was shaping up to be a great one for owner Ed Patterson.

“I was just about at my busiest when I had to close my doors,” Patterson said.

Patterson has been the owner for 24 years. He survives off customer loyalty and even when he was away from his store, that did not stop the messaged from coming his way.

“People were contacting me via Facebook messenger which I never use. I was getting emails, I was getting phone messages for people who wanted to do stuff but I was hesitant,” Patterson said.

Patterson would come in every other day since the second week of May just to check in on the store. Now that he is open again for business, he is seeing those loyal customers and more return.

“My loyal people are definitely coming in,” Patterson said. “I just finished up a fitting with a young lady and her husband got clubs through my last year. He was referred to his dad who got clubs from me who knows how many years ago.”

Patterson believes he will recover financially. He thanks his loyal customers, but he is also seeing an uprising in newer customers.

“I’ve seen some new business because I am the only one who is doing anything. So I’ve become the only repair center in town,” Patterson said.

Patterson says Prestwick is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
