The Syracuse Nationals took place this past weekend. The three day automotive show is the largest in the Northeast, and draws in people from all over the world.
Classical, modern and vintage cars are showcased at the event. There is also live entertainment and hundreds of vendors.
Photographer Matt Mowers has been attending the event for over 15 years. Mowers believes everyone has a different take on what they are looking for and what they see in a car. His images capture what he likes the most in the automotive world.
“If you take a really classic car and then update it with newer technology like newer breaks, newer engine, I think that stuff is really cool,” Mowers says.
Mowers purchased his first professional camera when he was in high school, but never took it seriously until he got to college. In 2008, he graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in mechanical engineering. Combining his two passions was bound to happen. Mowers says what makes his photographs unique from other photographers is his natural approach.
“I am more traditional in how I approach my photography,” Mowers says. “Where as the newer generation of photographers all kind of have their filter. I keep it simple. Go for the look.”
