FINNERAL: It has been a busy week at The Floral Gardens in Cicero New York thanks to Valentine’s day. Floral Gardens owner, Kathy Knittle has more employees on hand to get through this hectic time.

KNITTLE: “We bring in about 5 extra. I have all my old designers come in and do a mass designing a couple days before Valentine’s Day, so we can get them all designed and then I usually have about 3 or 4 extra people working for the holiday itself.”

FINNERAL: Floral Garden’s employees will be making arrangements, operating phones and making sure delivery drivers come and go in a timely fashion. Knittle says it takes roughly 20 minutes to make an arrangement depending upon how efficient you are. Knittle is anticipating a big delivery day on the day of love

KNITTLE: “Well, we like a day or two in advance, but it’s a man’s holiday so it usually doesn’t come until that morning. So we’ll probably add a 100 deliveries on tomorrow. We’ll have about 120 up until today and tomorrow we’ll probably add 100 in the morning.”

FINNERAL: The Floral Gardens makes around 20 specialty arrangements for Valentine’s day. Many of the arrangements come with more than just flowers. Knittle says popular add-ons include stuffed animals… chocolates… and balloons.

KNITTLE: “It’s like an all in one cupid special.”

FINNERAL: But there’s still one classic flower that everyone desires on Valentine’s day

KNITTLE: “Red roses. Everybody wants red roses. Colored roses, red roses. Fresh arrangement with roses in them.”

FINNERAL: Knittle says Mother’s Day is the most popular holiday at the Floral Gardens, but Valentine’s Day is the most last minute with people scrambling to buy their loved ones flowers.

CICERO, N.Y. – The Floral Gardens in Cicero, New York anticipated that Valentine’s Day would be a very busy holiday. Kathy Knittle, owner of The Floral Gardens, said the store is flooded on Valentine’s Day with people searching for last-minute gifts for their loved ones.

The Floral Gardens ordered boxes and other packaging supplies weeks before the holiday to make sure the shop was ready for this busy holiday. Knittle said the shop made over 150 deliveries before Valentine’s Day and expects to make another 100 on the holiday itself.

Knittle has more employees working this week to make sure The Floral Gardens stays on top of all its orders. Knittle has been working with designers prior to the holiday to create around 20 different Valentine’s Day arrangements.

Customers shopping on Valentine’s Day typically order add-ons to the floral arrangements including chocolate, stuffed animals and balloons, Knittle said.
