Many older teachers in Syracuse are thinking of retiring due to in-person classes being held this fall during the COVID pandemic. President of the Syracuse Teachers Association, Bill Scott says that this could be a concern for Syracuse schools.
SCOTT: You want to make sure that in the midst of a crisis you have your most season prepared people who kind of got this and know what they’re doing.
WALKUP: Today, Target announced it is joining Walmart in closing its stores on Thanksgiving Day. This ends the store’s tradition of providing an early start to Black Friday sales. Walmart employee Xarius Jones is sad to be missing out on extra cash.
JONES: I see why they’re closing. Covid is no joke.
WALKUP: The Ivy League has cancelled fall sports leaving many student athletes in limbo. Cornell senior football player Masen McManamon speaks about how it affects the careers of many senior athletes.
MCMANAMON: So a lot of guys are expecting our next season to be in fall of 2021. So if they want to participate in that season, those guys in my class, literally have to take a semester off.”>
