SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — This morning people were able to get a rapid COVID-19 test at the Mulroy Civic Center.
Before the event was set to start at 9 a.m., a line was already beginning to form.
Over the last seven days in Onondaga County the number of new cases has increased by 170 percent according to the C-D-C data tracker.
People who received a test today at the clinic expressed the importance of being tested.
After being in a closed environment this past weekend Ron Spencer wanted to make sure he wasn’t unknowingly spreading the virus. Spencer says he thinks it’s important for people to be tested and keep others safe.
“It’s very self-explanatory and very obvious that you don’t want to be… cause harm to anybody else and I’m thinking of other people before myself,” he said.
Chris Kraus was another person who received a test today. Kraus is fully vaccinated and said that even though he is fully vaccinated, he doesn’t want to be a break-through case. Kraus wants to be aware of his status and be responsible.
“We have a responsibility to help people not get sick and keep the economy going, you know, not have another lockdown or anything like that, not have a mask mandate,” he said.
The Civic Center hosted two sessions of testing today.
