ADRIANA LOH: THIS IS YOUR NCC NEWSBRIEF. IT’S JUNE 14TH… I’M ADRIANA LOH. HERE ARE SOME OF THE STORIES WE’RE WORKING ON TODAY.

IT’S OPENING DAY FOR THE LOCAL FARMER’S MARKET. GOING INTO ITS 50TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON….FIFTY VENDORS WILL BE SELLING PRODUCTS IN CLINTON SQUARE. EACH WEEK, A DIFFERENT INDUSTRY WILL BE HIGHLIGHTED.

JIM MARYINKUK: “We are farmers, this is what we live on, this is the money that we make by selling our products.”

LOH: SUPPLY ISSUES ARE ONE OF THE FACTORS CAUSING INFLATION FOR MANY CONSUMER ITEMS IN THE UNITED STATE, INCLUDING PRICES FOR RENTING AND BUYING HOMES, WHICH ARE AT AN ALL-TIME HIGH THIS YEAR.

CHIP HODGKINS: “So, interest rates are going to continue to go up so I would still say buy now before interest rates go up.”

LOH: A BASEBALL LEAGUE FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES… HAVING BEEN CAPTURED THROUGH PHOTOS ALLOW THE PLAYERS TO REMEMBER MOMENTS THAT ARE VERY SPECIAL.
ONE PERSON WHO TOOK PHOTOS FOR SYRACUSE CHALLENGER BASEBALL WAS CEE CEE ANDREW. AFTER HER PASSING SYRACUSE CHALLENGER BASEBALL TEAMED UP WITH THE SYRACUSE SPARTANS TO HOLD A PRE-GAME CEREMONY HONORING ANDREW’S MEMORY.

DOM CAMBARERI: “She was ready to come and volunteer some time and utilize her skill as a professional photographer and capture our players in absolutely magical moments.”

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — Celebrating five decades, the local farmer’s market returns for its 50th anniversary season. In honor of the anniversary, it will also feature 50 vendors to sell fresh produce at Clinton Square.  Each week, a different industry will be highlighted as part of its new addition this year called “Community Days.”  The market is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Tuesday through Oct. 11.

With supply issues continuing within the United States, this has impacted the housing market to skyrocket its prices. Potential home buyers will still have a limited number of listings to choose within the Syracuse area. The average cost of rent in the Syracuse area is $1,289 a month. This is up $200 more compared to the beginning of 2019.

The Syracuse Challenger baseball team partners with the Syracuse Spartans to honor their photographer Cee Cee Andrew. She initially volunteered to take pictures for the league after seeing her nephew participate. Andrew passed away earlier this year, and the team has looked back at the collection of photos she took. The team shared several of those moments to Facebook which has gathered over 200 reactions, over 60 comments and over 80 shares.
