Syracuse Farm Uses Agricultural Model To Help Community Syracuse Farm uses agricultural model to help community

Community Supported agriculture, or CSA, is a farming program where consumers pay money upfront and in return get boxes full of plants and vegetables throughout the year. Brady Farms, a locally owned farm on the south side of Syracuse, has over 100 customers using their resources. Liv Gostev, a crew leader at the facility, spoke more about how the consumer benefits from this initiative.

“The reason this is good for the customer is that it encourages diversity of different products that we have and it encourages them to eat in season.”

The farm sends out weekly and bi-weekly boxes to customers in the area. The contents of this box are always a surprise, which Gostev said keeps the farm diverse with their crops.

“I think it helps us be able to really introduce foods to people that they might not otherwise eat and just be able to have a really balanced farm diversity wise.”
