Syracuse University Promotes Giving Day with Live Broadcasts Syracuse University Promotes Giving Day with Live Broadcasts

ESPN's Kayla Burton hosted the trio of live shows.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) – On Giving Day at Syracuse University, the school raises funds to keep its programs in good shape. To help the effort, the Alumni Association put on three live shows at the JMA Wireless Dome and broadcasted them on Facebook. ESPN sideline reporter Kayla Burton hosted the shows. The 2019 SU graduate complimented the production team on its professionalism.

“(I love) this broadcast crew! I wish more people were able to see what goes (on) behind the scenes,” declared Burton. “They have been amazing. I mean, from two weeks ago I have been prepared with, ‘This is the rundown, this is what we’re doing.’ There have been so many different moving parts.”

Burton interviewed several important guests about the opportunities that Syracuse University gives to its students and alumni. She returned to SU for the first time in five years, but one of the other hosts is still a student at Syracuse. Nicole Aponte had a great time driving funds for SU on the air.

“To be in a place like the Dome and do what I love, I think it’s absolutely amazing that I’m a senior here and this is kind of the end of my journey,” Aponte reflected. “I’m closing this chapter of my book here at Syracuse University. So, to be able to work with Kayla and the entire Alumni Association here, it’s been absolutely fantastic.”

Some of the highlights of the broadcasts included a visit from Otto and coverage of a golf cart ride with a professor emeritus. SU plowed through its goal of 4,444 donors before the third live show even started and raised over $1 million.
